Arlington Heights Chiropractor Your First Visit
Upon arrival, our smiling receptionist will welcome you. We will need you to complete our new patient forms located in the new patient center on the O'Hara Family Chiropractic web site. Please down load the provided forms with your health history, insurance information and any pertinent information about your condition or injury. For your convenience we have provided this paper work to be completed at home if you wish. If you forget your paperwork or can't download it, no worries we have it at the office as well.
Your consultation will be with Dr. Kevin O'Hara. This is where you can discuss your health related issues, concerns and potential options for treatment. The initial visit will help Dr. O'Hara learn more about you, your condition or injury and your expectations or reservations.
Following your consultation Dr. O'Hara will perform a thorough chiropractic examination testing your flexibility and reflexes. Dr. O'Hara will also use standard neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical tests to access your condition.
Depending on your specific condition or injury, X-Ray studies may be warranted. Using state of the art digital x-ray technologies. Dr. O'Hara may use X-Ray to design the most effective course of action you, individually.
Following your medical history and examination, Dr. O'Hara will give you a detailed assessment of your issue. This is called the "report of findings". Questions answered will include
1. How can you help me?
2. How often do I need to come?
3. What will it cost?
Health history, spinal exam, X-Ray findings, orthopedic test outcomes, and specific goals for a return to health will be addressed . Dr. O'Hara will then discuss his recommendation and treatment options should your condition require co management.
Following your report of findings you may choose to continue on to your first treatment. Depending on your condition this may include, spinal adjustment, physical therapy, extremity adjustment and/or soft tissue work. Dr. O'Hara will walk and talk you through the entire process should you have any concerns.
Before leaving the office, Dr. O'Hara will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside the office. This may include activities or positions to avoid, the application of heat or ice and/or home exercises or stretches. Every patient is unique and requires a personal, customized wellness plan to aid in a speedy recovery. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
